St. John’s Seminary Presents Speaker Series on Science, Theology and Religion: Friends in the Quest for Truth

Camarillo, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

St. John’s Seminary announced today that it will present a lecture series in 2012 featuring lecturers from several top academic institutions on the always intriguing and sometimes collision prone intersections of science, theology and religion in the search for truth.

Father Jim Clarke, Ph.D., Chairman of the Department of Spiritual Theology at St. John’s Seminary is the Faculty Coordinator for the series. “We are very pleased to be able to bring these distinguished lecturers from other leading academic institutions to our community at St. John’s and to Southern California. This will be a great opportunity to hear from and talk with these thought provoking leaders in a small lecture hall at St. John’s. When and where did life begin? How are we as humans here and why do we exist? What, if anything, can science offer about God’s existence? What can faith bring to the pursuit of scientific knowledge? These are just a few of the topics our lecturers will be covering,” says Father Clarke.

All lectures will be held on Thursdays, beginning at 6:30 and ending by 9:00 p.m. Cost for the entire series of eight lectures is $ 80 or participants can purchase individual tickets for $ 15.

“St. John’s is a great place to think, to learn and to discover. For all of us here, the opportunity to welcome colleagues from other institutions and to provide a forum to welcome the public to discussions of such important issues is a blessing. We’re looking forward to hearing from our speakers and being challenged by their questions and insights. We encourage folks to buy their tickets early as these lectures will undoubtedly sell out,” says Monsignor Craig Cox, Rector/ President at St. John’s Seminary.
